Singapore Airlines, in partnership with AirPortr, has launched a digital check-in service that allows passengers to check their luggage in from home. However, it is only available to those flying from London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

The new service lets Singapore Airlines passengers conveniently check in their hold luggage before heading to the airport and have an AirPortr representative come to their home or hotel to collect their luggage and transport it to their flight. Passengers can book a collection slot via the AirPort website or mobile app up to a year before their flight date, although it must be made at least 24 hours before departure.

Passengers traveling on Singapore Airlines departing from Terminal 2 at London Heathrow can use our baggage collection service, regardless of ticket class. To utilize the service, your residence or stay must be within the M25 motorway, which encircles Greater London. Prices for the service begin at £28 ($36) for one checked bag picked up from Central London and £33 ($42) for two checked bags from the same location. The cost of the service may vary depending on the distance between your address and London Heathrow Airport.

Once a booking slot is made, an AirPortr driver will greet the passenger at their home or hotel at their desired time, where they will seal and photograph the luggage and check boarding passes and passports to ensure the bags get to the correct flight safely and securely. Passengers will then receive a digital receipt from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) via text message, which allows them to track their luggage and quickly locate it should there be any mishaps.

Singapore Airlines currently operates long-haul flights from London Heathrow to twenty destinations across the Asia-Pacific region – Singapore (SIN) itself, Adelaide (ADL), Auckland (AKL), Bali (DPS), Bangkok (BKK), Brisbane (BNE), Colombo (CMB), Darwin (DRW), Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), Jakarta (CGK), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Male (MLE), Manila (MNL), Melbourne (MEL), Perth (PER), Phuket (HKT), and Sydney (SYD).

However, Singapore Airlines isn’t the only carrier AirPort has partnered with. The home check-in service is also available to people flying from London Heathrow with American Airlines, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic. At the same time, British Airways passengers can also use the service when flying out of London Gatwick Airport (LGW).

Elsewhere in Europe, AirPortr has partnered with SWISS Air and KLM to provide the service at Zurich (ZRH) and Geneva (GVA) airports, as well as British Airways and leisure carrier Edelweiss Air in Zurich and Austrian Airlines in Vienna (VIE). The company has been continuously growing its network over the last decade, so it could be likely that Singapore Airlines’ partnership with AirPortr could be extended to further airports soon.
