Passengers in Delta One cabins can soon select treats from a dessert cart and enjoy cocktails, plant-based meat alternatives, and locally inspired cuisine as the carrier revamps its menu.

Delta suspended its dessert trolley during the COVID-19 pandemic, replacing it with pre-packaged treats, but is now relaunching the sweet smorgasbord. Customers seated in Delta One, its premium cabin on international flights, will be able to choose from a cart of goodies, including plated desserts, such as an opera cake with chocolate ganache, and fruit and cheese plates with grapes, Midnight Moon gouda, and Cowgirl Creamy wagon wheel cheese.

Flyers can also build their own sundaes, with toppings including cookie crumble, fruit compote, chocolate chips, and whipped cream. The spread on each flight depends on the city of departure.

The drink menu in Delta One is also getting an upgrade. On select flights, Delta is uncorking La Fête du Rosé, a premium rosé produced by the Black-owned La Fête Wine Company in partnership with the winemakers of Château Saint-Maur.

Delta will also serve Tip Top Proper Cocktails from the drink cart on some domestic and international flights. The rotating menu will start with old fashioneds and espresso martinis in March, with bee’s knees, a Prohibition favorite with gin and lemon juice, and negronis to follow.

Also on board are new delicacies, including local and seasonal items. Passengers in Delta One and first-class cabins on some flights departing from New York-JFK can enjoy signature kielbasa (Polish sausage) from New York institution the Gramercy Tavern, served with a marinated yellow beet salad with walnut pesto and ricotta. Vegetarians can enjoy Questlove’s cheesesteak, made with Impossible plant-based meat alternatives, but must select it before the flight.

Other vegetarian options, available in select markets, retain chef Mashama Bailey’s roasted sweet potato tagine with chermoula sauce.

Meanwhile, Delta One and first-class customers flying out of Los Angeles (LAX) will be feted with chicken piccata with lemon caper sauce and Calabrian Caesar salad, designed by chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo.

Delta One passengers flying to the U.S. from Madrid (MAD) and Barcelona (BCN) will be treated to Spanish-style tapas, while those departing from London, Edinburgh (EDI), and Dublin (DUB) will enjoy afternoon tea.

Dessert options on flights will include blueberry cheesecake and chocolate chunk and sea salt cookies.

“Your onboard meal or beverage should be no different than your go-to restaurant at home, and that’s why we’re constantly reinventing our onboard service at Delta—we always want to surprise and delight our customers with seasonal and fresh menu options,” said Kristen Manion Taylor, senior vice president of in-flight service at Delta.

“From delicious Spanish tapas plates to refreshing rosé, there is something new for everyone to enjoy.”

Delta isn’t the only airline reintroducing premium foods and beverages in 2023 after three years of scaled-down and pre-packaged pandemic meals. United recently announced its ice cream sundae cart will return to long-haul international flights in February.
