Lufthansa First and Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold frequent flyers traveling through Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) will soon be able to unwind at one of two new lounges inside the new terminals.
The German flag carrier will officially open its new Senator and Business lounges at BER Monday, April 3, offering passengers a significant improvement in lounge space than what is currently available at the airport.
Until now, premium travelers flying with Lufthansa at Berlin Brandenburg had been directed to the Lounge Tegel. Unfortunately, this rather drab space is known for getting uncomfortably overcrowded during peak times. Meanwhile, HON Circle members have had access to the slightly more spacious Business Lounge Tempelhof.
But from next week, elite flyers in Berlin will be welcomed to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge and the Lufthansa Business Lounge. According to the airline, passengers can expect “modern room concepts, a new lounge design, all-day buffets to suit your taste, and local art in an exclusive feel-good atmosphere.” Passengers will be able to find both lounges on the north pier of Terminal 1, close to gate B20.

In the brand-new Senator lounge, guests can relax by a steam fireplace, while there will be dedicated spaces for quiet relaxation, work, and dining. And in an innovative concept, guests will be able to participate in the design of the lounge by contributing their own digital artwork via an app, with selected pieces chosen to adorn the walls.
Meanwhile, the newly refurbished Business lounge will welcome guests with invitingly homely décor. It will include a TV club where passengers can relax to classical music and enjoy concert broadcasts and films, also featuring a “wall of books” holding a collection of illustrated books provided by German publishers teNeues, which passengers can enjoy in comfy armchairs overlooking the runway while waiting for their flight.
Food and drink will be served in both lounges in an all-day buffet, including breakfast, vegetarian, vegan options, and a wide array of hot and cold beverages. There will also be separate private retreat spaces for HON Circle members.

The Senator lounge will be open to all First Class passengers flying with Star Alliance member airlines, as well as Star Alliance Gold frequent flyers, including Lufthansa Senator and HON Circle members.
Meanwhile, the Business lounge will be reserved for Star Alliance Business Class passengers and elite Miles & More frequent flyers. Other Star Alliance members include Air Canada, Avianca, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, and more.
Lufthansa currently has a variety of airport lounges dotted across Germany, including at Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), and Stuttgart (STR), which should give an idea as to what to expect in Berlin’s new spaces.
