National Do Not Call List For TelemarketersThe National Do Not Call Registry allows consumers the choice to limit the number of telemarketing calls they receive. Millions of people have already added their names to the registry as a way to avoid receiving telemarketing calls and faxes altogether. Customers
are able to remove their names from marketing lists by registering their phone numbers
online at the Federal Trade
Commission's National Do Not Call Registry or by calling a specially
designated number at the FTC. According to the FTC's website (www.ftc.gov), "A company with which a consumer has an established business relationship may call for up to 18 months after the consumer’s last purchase or last delivery, or last payment, unless the consumer asks the company not to call again. In that case, the company must honor the request not to call. If the company calls again, it may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000." |
